Maxene “Mackie” Janet Reid, 86, of Amarillo, TX passed away October 10, 2023.
Visitation will be from 6-7:00 PM, Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 13, 2023, at Second Baptist Church with Robert Reid as officiant. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Mackie was born March 13, 1937, in Ralls, TX to Roy and Iona Bouma Hooks. She graduated from Amarillo High School and married Percy Reid on February 10, 1957. Mackie loved to sew, look at catalogues, and order all kinds of things for her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church, and her greatest joy was family. All Mackie ever wanted in life was to be a mother; she was there for each and every milestone or event in her children’s lives.
Mackie is survived by her husband, Percy Reid; daughters, Diesta Kuhn and husband Pete of Justiceburg, TX and Cinna Splawn and husband David of Amarillo, TX; sons, Gordon Reid and wife Joyce, and Galen Reid and wife Shelley all of Amarillo, TX; brother, Jerry Hooks of Durango, CO; sister, Jan Gibson of Amarillo, TX; and grandchildren, Reid Splawn and wife Abigail, Reagan Reid, Joshua Splawn, and Colin Reid.
Farewell Mackie, you will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to your family.
