Melanie Elizabeth Martin, 60, of Spring, TX, passed away on June 13, 2022.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 18th at the Cowboy Christian Church in Dumas, Texas at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tommie Long officiating. She will be interred at Dumas Cemetery with her beloved family. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Melanie Martin was born on March 18, 1962, in Dumas, Texas to parents Glen and Jo Anne (Jody) Green in 1962. She and her husband Eric were married in 2002. They were devoted friends and partners in life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen Green and Jo Anne (Jody) Jacob, and siblings Houston Green, Patricia Ann Donahoo, and Jimmy Dean Donahoo.
Melanie is survived by her husband, Eric Martin, her son, Justin Lightfoot, his fiancé Andrea LaMato and grandson, Stetson Lightfoot. She is also survived by her brother Dallas Green and wife Shawna, and her sister Bonny Headding and husband Galen. She was dearly loved by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Melanie graduated from Dumas High School in 1980. She was a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1981 to 1985, serving as an Air Traffic Control Officer. In her role, she provided coordination and communication in airport control zones, airfields, and remote landing sites. Melanie was very proud of her service to the United States. After leaving the military, Melanie worked in management for many large corporations such as Dillard’s, Liz Claiborne, and JP Morgan Chase. She was often recognized by her employers and peers for exemplary leadership and mentorship capabilities. Melanie loved her family intensely. Her son, Justin was the light of her life. She was elated to become a grandmother earlier this year.
