Michael Glenn Stephens, 62, of Amarillo, TX passed away on June 13, 2023.

Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 17, 2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Michael was born in Smith Center, KS on June 29, 1960, the 1st of 4 children to Merlin and Lois Wilkerson Stephens. He attended kindergarten and 1st grade at Smith Center Elementary before his father relocated the family to Salina, KS in 1967. Michael was a 1978 graduate of Salina High School South and after graduation, he moved to Amarillo, TX. Michael worked for Levi Strauss, Haliburton, Z & Z Pools, and Irish Springs Pools and Spas for 19 years. He was OCD about pool work and in his home life. He enjoyed hearing about all of his nephews and nieces’ activities. Michael enjoyed playing volleyball and spending time carving pumpkins, New Years Eve celebrations, and cookouts with his special group of friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Stewart; stepfather, Gordon Stewart; father, Merlin Stephens; grandparents, Walter and Ida Stephens and Roscoe and Marie Wilkerson; brother, Mitchell Stephens; nephew, Josh Nichols; and uncles, Roger Wilkerson, Dennis Wilkerson, and Doug Chick.

Michael is survived by sisters, Michelle (Kenny) Nichols and Melanie (Tim) Bartley; half-sister, Teresa Stamps; nephews, Luke Bartley, Dustin (Autumn) Stewart, Jake (Tara) Nichols, and Chatham (Lacie) Stamps; niece, Desiree (Ron) Peterson; aunt and uncle, Carol Chick and Wally Wilkerson; great-nephews, Gunner, Karson, Xander, Roscoe, and DJ; one great-niece, Willow; countless beloved extended family; and a house full of cats!

  1. Mike was my brother in spirit. I am also OCD about swimming pools! Mike would do ANYTHING to help anyone. I consider Mike one of the swimming pool Godfather’s in Amarillo. He will be missed. Godspeed Mike 💜

  2. Mike was a really great guy. Every time I saw him he would ask about my family and how I was doing. You will be missed my friend.
