Michael “Mike” Anthony Cruz, 59, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 16, 2023 in Amarillo, TX.

Mike was born on June 22, 1963, in Amarillo, TX to Nolbert and Ignacio Cruz.  A graduate of Caprock High School, Mike went through life with a kind-heart, strong work ethic, and an unrivaled zest for life. Mike held many roles and careers in the construction world throughout his life. From co-running a family-owned construction company that oversaw numerous renovations in Texas and beyond to most recently leading various projects at the Pantex Plant as a superintendent and safety coordinator, Mike made sure to always complete his jobs with the utmost professionalism and thoroughness. With a heart of gold, a love for family, and a constant smile, Mike made sure to live each day to its fullest. To know Mike was to love him, as he truly encapsulated what it meant to value his fellow man.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Nolbert, and his father, Ignacio.

Mike is survived by his wife of 36 years, Delia Cruz of Amarillo; his sons, Michael Cruz and his husband, Caleb Baker of Amarillo, and Matthew Cruz and his wife, Jennifer Cruz of Amarillo and grandson, Maddox Anthony Cruz of Amarillo; brother, John Cruz of Amarillo, and sister, Diana Cruz Liggitt and husband Jim of Amarillo. Additionally, Mike had countless cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and friends who he valued immensely.

The rosary will be on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 6:00 pm at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.  Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Church with Fr. Hector Madrigal as celebrant.
