Mike Green, 73, of Amarillo, TX died Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Mike was born March 25, 1947, in Lorenzo, TX to John and Kathryn Green.  He graduated from Woodberry Forest High School in Virginia and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Texas Tech University.

Mike was part owner in United Filters and owned Lorenzo Textile Mills.  He loved to play golf and spend time with his grandchildren. He also loved watching Texas Tech but his greatest joy was watching his grandkids in anything and everything they did.

He loved his country and was very patriotic.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Kincaid and husband Scott, and Terry Phetluangsy and husband Savath, all of Amarillo, TX; a son, Travis Green and wife Brandee, of Amarillo, TX; a brother, Jerry Green and wife Saretta, of Fort Worth, TX; a sister, Jonye Kay Briggs and husband Deane of Winter Haven, FL; and ten grandchildren, Kylie Jennings, Justin Jennings, Gage Phetluangsy, Ben Kincaid, Tai Phetluangsy, Mia Phetluangsy, Samantha Green, Owen Kincaid, Luke Kincaid, and Micah Green.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.

  1. I was a classmate of Mike’s at Woodberry Forest School. Mike was a great athlete and a fine scholar. My sympathy to his family. I regret that this is a belated message to everyone as this was communicated to me only recently by our school’s alumni office.

  2. I am sorry to learn of Mike’s death.
    I was Mike’s roommate at Woodberry Forest School ’63-64.
    Mike was a nice roommate- a real Texan.

    We had not seen each other since graduation June 1965.

  5. Dear God, please bless Mike’s soul and give comfort and peace to all his family and friends. He had a lot of both! To Tammy, Terre and Travis we send our sympathies for we know how much your dad will be missed. He loved you and your families as much as a man could love. My memories of him going to pick up my car at the Corvette Museum and all his help and spirit at our Tech tailgate parties are some of the best memories of my life. Rest In Peace good friend!

  9. I was proud to have known Mike for over 60 years. He was a really good friend of mine. We played alot of golf together, and we solved the worlds problems after golf and a few beers. You will be so missed, my friend. Gary Moore

Edward and I are so sorry about Mike our prayers are with his family ! ❤️🙏🏻❤️ The last yrs of Linda’s life she invited Gerry Don , Linda S , Garry Moore and Mike over we would cook out drink and tease each other !! Just happened a few times !! I think Linda like Garry Moore sorry had to confess it !!

So very sad to read the news about Mike . . .He was a long-time friend from the golf days of many of us that knew him . . .Met him in mid ’80’s out at Tascosa CC on the golf course when I hit into his group . . .nice guy, good friend, great Grand Dad and loved his grandkids. . . .Will miss him and his stories and dry wit!!

  13. I was so fortunate to marry into the Lorenzo friends. I can’ begin to share all the stories Gerry and Mike would share with me. We spent many hours together over the years and I was so blessed to have him as a great friend. My heart goes out to all the family.

    It hurts to lose you, but what great memories we made-with our wonderful families, on the golf course and in multiple other places. Sure glad we chose to play in that tournament in Ruidoso recently. We went down swinging, partner. Again.

  17. Waterdawg will be missed. I have so many wonderful memories of our time together. Our many golf matches with a funny story always told will hold a special place in my memories forever. He was one proud “Pops”. He was always bragging on his grandchildren’s school, sports and other endeavors. Dawg, you were one of a kind and I miss you already!
