She is survived by her husband, Arthur Minkler of Amarillo; sister, ReGena Holalde of Wichita Falls, TX; brother, Benny Hill of Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Holly Vanessa Vanderbush of Amarillo; son, Chaplain (CPT) Neil Vanderbush (Holly) of Little Rock, AR; son, Austin Vanderbush (Megan) of Aurora, MO; six grandchildren, Hannah Moon (Alec), Ethan Edger, PFC Dean Vanderbush (Madison), Abram Edger, Abigail Vanderbush, and Aden Vanderbush; and two great-grandchildren, Quinn Moon and Lilith Moon.

Mitzi was born at Duncan, OK, to Dean and Virginia Hill, and was the youngest of 4 children. They moved to Amarillo to be nearer to family when she was about 6 years old. She grew up around many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was always free-spirited, hilarious and ornery, as well as bright, sensitive and artistic. She was gifted and strong in many areas that most people were not. She could do the plumbing around the house, develop computer software, conduct genealogy research,  write sonnets, paint pictures, feed the homeless (animals included), tend flowers, raise chickens, paint furniture and be an amazing grandmother — all in the same day. Even with all of these amazing skills and qualities, her two passions in life were Jesus and her family and friends.

Last year, at age 63, she celebrated the ¨30th Birthday¨ of when she received salvation in Jesus Christ and was baptised as a believer at age 33. She underwent a radical transformation, virtually overnight. She was alone at home, and in a moment of desperation and barely believing, she picked up a Bible and told God ¨this is your last chance.¨ She randomly opened it up and read about Jesus walking on the water, and at that moment, she realized that it actually happened. She felt what seemed like light covering her whole body, and she immediately fell asleep. From the moment she woke up, her journey as a believer began. She started to see and experience the love of God everywhere she looked, especially in people. Her family was perplexed, and she was met with a lot of opposition. She stuck to her faith and proclaimed it to anyone and everyone who would listen. As a result, everyone around her has been touched and strengthened in their faith and walk with Christ.

She had a powerful gift of intercessory prayer, which was sometimes a very hard thing for her to carry. The burden she felt for people was overwhelming, but it led her to pray earnestly and fervently for her husband, children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, co-workers and even strangers.

She had the blessing of seeing the fruit of many answered prayers before she passed. Her 30-year marriage to Art had grown and blossomed. All three of her adult children had given their lives to Christ and were faithfully following Him, and she had 6 beautiful grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She was able to enjoy a very close bond with her great-grandson Quinn. She was very close with her sister, ReGena and her Aunt Sue, and had a passionate love for her extended family, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and her friends from Basden Bail Bonds, and prayed for them all. She often commented “they will never know how much I love them.” She loved deeply, passionately and cared more for the people in her life than what most people realized. Above all, she lifted them all up to the Lord fervently. God had gifted her with this burden, and she was faithful

Her faith is her legacy, and many of us will be able to thank her in heaven for praying us through the gates.

Her favorite verse: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Her soul has found rest.
