Nelva Snow Beck

Nelva Snow Beck, born on July 15, 1942, peacefully departed this world in her sleep on January 8, 2024. She was surrounded by the warmth of her dreams as she embarked on her final journey.

Nelva, known for her kindness and gentle spirit, touched the lives of those around her with love and compassion. Born into a world that witnessed significant changes, she embraced life with resilience, grace, and an unwavering spirit.

Preceded in death by her husband Gerald Beck and her parents Ray and Helen Prachar of Spearman, Texas, and her siblings Patty Cator of Gruver, Texas, and Gary Prachar of Lubbock, Texas.  Additionally, Nelva is reunited in eternity with her beloved shih tzu, Maggie, a faithful and loyal companion who brought immeasurable joy to her life.  Nelva is survived by her loving daughters: Terri Dewberry and husband Robbie of Granbury, Texas; Tammi Holmes and husband Doug of Amarillo, Texas; Traci White and wife Debbie of Amarillo, Texas; and Toni Bryan and husband Brandon of Canyon, Texas.

Nelva was a proud and adoring grandmother to nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her legacy of love and family bonds will continue to thrive through the generations she leaves behind.

She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Aubrey, and husband Bob, sister-in-law Jerribeth Prachar, and brother Ken Prachar, and husband Ricky. Nelva leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her fondly for her warmth and kindness.

Nelva loved to laugh, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her laughter was infectious and could light up even the darkest of days. She had a deep affection for animals of all kinds, filling her home with the companionship of beloved pets. A voracious reader, she found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books, passing on her love for literature to her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Nelva’s life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 12:30pm at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79109, followed by a graveside vigil at 4:00pm at Hansford Cemetery, 9979 TX-15, Spearman, TX 79081.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Nelva’s honor to Gracie’s Project (
