Norma June Fahnert, 84, of Amarillo, died Friday, December 18, 2020.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 23, 2020, in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Norma was born on June 16, 1936, in Lyons, Texas to Neoma Johnson  Fahnert and Johnny Fahnert.    She had worked in the cafeteria at San Jacinto Elementary for many years.  She lived with her mother, all of her life, and the last fourteen years at the Country Club Nursing and Rebab.

She loved pets, little children, and singing.  Norma enjoyed babysitting and working outside in the yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents Neoma Fahnert Scheffer and father, Johnny Fahnert;  brother, Kenneth Fahnert; and sister, Ramona Davis.

Norma was a long-time member of San Jacinto Church of Christ.

She is survived by her sister, Judith “Judy” Gauna; two brothers, Roger Fahnert and wife Janet and Louis Wayne Scheffer and wife Lupe of El Paso, Texas; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Fahnert; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to San Jacinto Church of Christ, 823 S. Mississippi #A, Amarillo, Texas 79106.

  1. We loved Norma. She would come to the Church Services that we held there at the Nursing Home, until she became deaf and could no longer attend. Many times she would come out to the dining hall to get a hug. She wrote me a really sweet poem of how lonely she was at times. She will be missed.

  2. We loved Norma. She was always so happy and contented. We loved to hear about her life. We look forward to seeing her again!
