Norman Spencer, 85, of Amarillo died peacefully knowing he was loved on Friday, August 21, 2020.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at First Christian Church, 3001 Wolflin Ave., with a lunch reception to follow. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Norman was born to Samuel and May Spencer on August 28, 1934 in Kansas where he was raised.  He joined the Army and served our country during the Korean War.  Norman returned to Kansas and worked as a farmer when he married the love of his life, Dolores Spencer.  They were married for 57 years prior to her death in 2017.

In 1973, Norman moved his family to Amarillo to build his own business as an agricultural chemical salesman.  During the last year of his life, he moved to California to be near his daughter, Melinda, and her family.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching football.  He was a man of steadfast faith and demonstrated his faith by the way he lived which included being active in his church.  Norman was always a devoted husband, loving father, and nurturing grandfather.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Spencer, and his daughter, April Spencer.

He is survived by his daughter, Melinda Spencer; grandchildren, Grace Spencer Verrinder, Dana Williams and Damon Williams; and great-grandchild, Kyrsten Williams.

  2. Melinda, I was so sorry to see this posting about your dad. He was a good friend to Tom and I. We made many memories at square dance events for several years. I miss the good times and the friendship we had. I send you blessings and many prayers .

  3. Norman was such a good man. We miss him at First Christian. Our deepest sympathy to you and the grandchildren, especially Dana and Damon, whom I knew a little bit.
