Omer Lloyd Brackeen, 75, of Amarillo passed away Monday, October 10, 2022.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Rusty Early of Mobeetie United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Omer Lloyd was born September 10, 1947, in Borger, TX to Omer and Fern (Smith) Brackeen. He received his GED in 1971 and immediately joined the Army. After serving his country he was Honorably Discharged due to the injuries he sustained during the Vietnam War with the rank of Sargent. He was awarded numerous medals and awards including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He married the love of his life, Glenda Ellis, on October 6, 1976. They had two children, Jenna (Stillborn) and Jayson. They raised their family in Amarillo. Omer Lloyd enjoyed Cowboying, cooking, fishing, and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Fern and Omer Brackeen, his wife Glenda, daughter Jenna, son Jayson, and brother Johnny.
He is survived by his brother, Billy Dan Brackeen of Amarillo; sister, Betty Fern; aunt, Audrey King of Scottsdale, AR; caregiver of 10 years; and cousin, Charlene Matthews; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project of Amarillo.
