Otto R. Harz, 67, of Amarillo, TX passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020.

Services to honor his life will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 10, 2020, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial and final salute will take place following the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Boulevard.

Otto was born on August 19, 1953 in Amarillo, Texas to John D. and Helen Harz. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1971. He married the love of his life, Kay Brownlee, on April 10, 1971. Otto enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1971 and served in Vietnam. After two years of active duty, he joined the reserves. He earned two Associates Degrees in Electronics at Amarillo College, and went on to own and operate Circle N Service, alongside his wife Kay. Otto took pride in his business and had an unmatched work ethic.

Otto was an avid car collector, and he and Kay enjoyed taking classic cars and restoring them to mint condition. They would then take their finished projects and show them in local and major car shows, often placing among the best. They had many wondrous adventures together, cruising the highways in the cars they restored.

Otto was a family man at the very core and adored his kids, grandkids, and great grands. He was the heart of most family and friendly gatherings.

Otto is survived by his wife, Kay Harz, of Amarillo; daughter, Christy Yates and husband Cody of Turkey, TX; son, Mike Harz and wife Colomba of Amarillo; his mother, Helen Harz of Amarillo; brother, Dieter Harz and wife Candy of Amarillo; his grandchildren – Lacie and husband Trevor, Valerie, Eddie, Baylie and husband Lane, Kailey, Mark, Charlie, Mason, Katherine, and Kimberly; and his great-grandchildren – Hazel, Moxon, Maddox, Paxton, and Sutton. He is also survived by honorary brothers – Willie Yager, Eddie Stallings, and Bill McWeeney.

The family suggests memorial to the Texas Panhandle War Memorial, 4111 S Georgia Street, Amarillo, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

  1. Me and my family were life times friends of Otto and his family ever since we were children,but we moved away about 42 years ago and I haven’t seen him in a long time. I am so sorry to hear about his passing.I am sorry but I can’t come to his funral because I have Cancer and am very sick….But I will see you soon Otto….good bye for now…….RIP……….

  3. So shocked to see this! Otto was, once again, using his great wealth of knowledge of electronics, just days ago, for our family! He made such a difference in his clients lives. It was evident that Otto had a deep love for his family and his weenie dog! May God comfort each of you in your great loss.

  4. Otto was the best man at my wedding to Sandra Veazey on December 21 1970. He was one of my best friends. We spent a lot of good times on Polk street during high school. We lost touch after his navy service. We only ran into each other on a few occasions. So sorry for Kay and the families loss. We will keep them our prayers.

  7. So sorry to hear of Otto’s passing. I enjoyed being one of his friends in high school and then seeing him at all of the car functions. He will be greatly missed.
