Patricia Ann "Pat" Tipping – March10, 2014


Patricia Ann “Pat” Tipping, 70, of Dumas, died Monday, March 10, 2014.  Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel.  Burial will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas.

 

Pat was born on August 3, 1943 in Durant, Oklahoma.  She was a loving housewife and mother. She loved shoes and her hair.  She enjoyed family, grandkids, friends, and church family.  She was a member of the red hat society.

 

She is survived by a son, Rodney Tipping; a daughter, Jamie Slater; a brother, John Lewellen and wife Joan, two sisters, Anita Trawick and husband John, and Freda Mathis; and four grandchildren, Mark A., Connor M., Zackary, and Page.

Teresa Smith Sumner – March 9, 2014

A memorial service is planned for Thursday 2pm at Christian Heritage Church, 901 S. Nelson, with Senior Pastor Kevin McBride officiating.
Teresa was born on October 15,1947 to Lester and Tressie Smith. She was a life long Amarillo resident.
Teresa spent her entire life taking care of her loved ones. She also loved to travel, visiting the mountains and even a trip to Hawaii.  Teresa was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be forever missed.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, and her four siblings, Bud Smith, Birdie Woolsey, Lois Hart and Kenneth Smith.
Survivors include her husband Neil Sumner, her son Tony Ferrell and his wife Sandra, Tressie Ferrell, and Briana Casias and husband Eddie all of Amarillo, Duana King and husband Tim of Panhandle, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephew.

Edgar Gerald "Eddie" Storseth – March 10, 2014

Edgar Gerald “Eddie” Storseth, 92, of Amarillo, passed away on March 10, 2014 at Ware Living Center. Storseth
Mr. Storseth was born in 1921 to Ray and Jessie Storseth and had six brothers – John, Bob, Bill, Don, S.L., and Jerry—and one sister, Gladys Olivier. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1939 and later Amarillo College.
Eddie was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. As a pilot, he ferried planes across the United States. While in the Navy he met Kathryn “Sunny” Deaton, who served at the time as a Yeoman in the Navy. The two married in Memphis, Tennessee, in l944.
Following their discharge from the military, the Storseths moved to Amarillo where he became an independent insurance agent, owning and operating Storseth Insurance Agency before retiring. An active member of First Baptist Church, Eddie taught youth and adult Sunday School classes. He was also a long-time member of Gideons International, and took great pleasure in distributing Bibles to students and enlisted military personnel. A passionate believer in the message of the Gospel, he enjoyed sharing his testimony and the Good News of Jesus Christ with anyone he could, from business colleagues to restaurant servers to the day laborers who helped him care for his yard after he retired. To his family, he leaves behind a legacy of deep faith, hard work, and generosity.
Mr. Storseth was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Sunny; his brothers Don and Bill Storseth; daughter Suzie Eschenburg and husband Marc; sons Dick Storseth and wife Beverly; Gary Storseth and wife Mischelle; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be to Gideons Memorial Bible Fund, 2200 W. 7th Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79106. Private graveside services for immediate family were arranged by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, officiated by Rev. Brett Storseth. Visitation for friends and family will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:00 at Boxwell Brothers 2800 Paramount.

Gary Robert Schweitzer – March 8, 2014

Gary Robert Schweitzer, 60, of Bushland, died Saturday, March 8, 2014.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in First Baptist Church Bushland with Jeff Ponder, pastor, and Mark DeVito, his brother-in-law, officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Gary was born Feb. 28, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio to James and Hilda Schweitzer.  Gary lived in the Amarillo area for more than 30 years.  He married Kathy DeVito in Amarillo in 1983.  Gary was devoted to his family and faith and attended First Baptist Church Bushland.  He worked for Sears for 31 years.  Gary was a proud American who loved camping, fishing, and his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, David and Jerry.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Schweitzer of Bushland; two children, Anna Schweitzer of Houston and Jacob Schweitzer of Bushland; two brothers, Jim Schweitzer of San Antonio and Larry Schweitzer of Las Vegas, NV; and a sister, Marge Ansel of Parma, Ohio.

Patricia Ann Langford – March 5, 2014

Graveside services were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dumas.  Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, in St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Amarillo with Dr. Stan Cosby, senior pastor, officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Patricia was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Fort Sill, Okla. to Charles and Margie Helm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two previous husbands; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Langford, of the home; two sons, Dale Kinzy and Charlie Reed, both of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Britney Daugherty, Heaven Kinzy, Sarah Diseker and Holly LaFever; and ten great-grandchildren.

Gerald "Gary" Volden – March 6, 2014

Gary was born Dec. 19, 1945, in Liberal, Kansas, to Dale and Leta Volden.  He married Judy Lee on Oct. 2, 1970, in Perryton.  He proudly served his country in the Army.  Gary enjoyed his garden, woodworking, camping and fishing and he especially enjoyed people.  He loved his family and grandchildren.   Gary was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Volden, of Dumas; a daughter, Leslie Winther; two sons, Gary “Daren” Volden and David Volden; seven brothers, Robert, Charles, Ron, Terry, Stanley, Michael and Brian; six sisters, Shirley, Mary, Jeanie, Rose, Sharon and Tonja; fourteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Dumas Hospice.

Scott Allen Tiefel – March 4, 2014

Scott was born Oct. 17, 1976, in Wurzburg, Germany, to Mark and Judi Tiefel.  He attended Ramstein High School in Germany and graduated from Randall High School, class of 1996.
Scott thoroughly enjoyed his work life and his team mates at Drury Inn and Suites. He was a hard worker and treated everyone he met like family. Scott is remembered most for being a wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. We loved his caring spirit and his willingness to help others was one of his greatest traits.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Weldon Green, Vivian and Al Williams, also Arthur and Bertha Tiefel; and his uncle, Ray Green.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Judi and Bud Kelley of DeKalb; his father and step-mother, Mark and Coni Tiefel of Sierra Vista, AZ; two sisters, Marcy Tiefel and husband Jarrod of Amarillo, and Misty Johnson and husband Joel of Waco; and two nephews, Shane and Jessie of Amarillo

Carl Lee Higginbotham – March 6, 2014

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with T.C. Messer, pastor of Harvest Time and Tim McMath officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Carl was born August 29, 1932, in Pendal, Arkansas to Joseph and Ruth Higginbotham.  He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star.  Carl married Leona Mae Pulliam in 1952.  She preceded him in death in 1999.  He married Lena Gamble in June of 2003.  Carl worked at Amarillo Thermal King and at Western Sand and Gravel for thirty years.  He attended Harvest Time Church.  He and Lena have lived in Waxahachie for the past three years.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Pearline and a brother, Cecil.
Survivors include his wife Lena Higginbotham, of the home; a daughter, Jackie McMath and husband Tim of Wichita Falls; three brothers, Raymond Higginbotham, J.C. Higginbotham and Red Higginbotham and wife Wilma, all of Amarillo; a sister, Jessie Hartwell and husband Gene of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Brenda Dunn and husband Donald of Waxahachie; five grandchildren, Haley, Josh and Joey McMath, Stephanie Woodward and husband Clint and Matthew Dunn; and a great-granddaughter, Calleigh Woodward.

Bettie Jo Woolley Langdon – February 24, 2014

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Smith officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Bettie Jo was born on May 18, 1932 in Blaine, Baca County, Colo. to Arthur Ray “Big Bill” and Gaberella “Gabe” Woolley. She was raised on the HT Ranch near Gladstone, N.M. and graduated from Farley High School in 1950.

She was a homemaker and seamstress known for her wedding dresses and cheerleading uniforms. Bettie Jo was the bookkeeper at Texas Saddlery.  She taught her children the importance of family and hard work.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Jim Ray Woolley and Bill John Woolley.

She is survived by her sons, Joe Crill Langdon and wife Judy and Jim Langdon, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Shaun Wink and husband Frank, of Panhandle; grandchildren, Micheal Wink of Panhandle, James Wink of Canyon, Tommy Conner, Lisa Hamilton and Misti Wieck, all of Amarillo; thirteen great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kaitlyn Conner, Derek Hamilton, Brandon Jones, Brittany McAlister, Nathanial McAlister, Nicholas Wink, Christian Wink, Taylor Bri Wink and Langdon Wink, Destiny Williams, Megan Williams and Dustin Williams; a great-great-granddaughter, Zoe Swindell; a brother, Ben Woolley and wife Ann of Dalhart.  She is also survived by her former husband, Fred Langdon; and a host of nieces and nephews, who she loved very much.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Heritage Convalescent Center of Amarillo for the loving care given to Bettie Jo during her time with them.

Daniel Arroyo – March 2, 2014

Daniel was born Dec. 30, 1965, in Tempoal, Veracruz, Mexico, to Clemente Arroyo and Hermila Gonzalez.  He was a dedicated family man, taking care to support his mom and aunt, Elsa Gonzalez.  His circle of life was his family.  Daniel was a good man, brother, son, uncle and friend.  He enjoyed walking his two dogs every day.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Hermila Gonzalez, of Mexico; a brother, Clemente Arroyo and wife Irene of Amarillo;  an aunt, Elsa Gonzalez of Mexico;  an uncle, Romon Gonzalez of Mexico; a niece, Irene Arroyo, of Amarillo;  a nephew, Clemente Arroyo Jr., of Amarillo; his Godmother, Gala Estela Gonzalez; and cousins.
