Patricia Ann Derrickson, 81, of Amarillo, TX passed away on February 16, 2023.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 am (Central), Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX.  Services will also be live-streamed via Facebook, Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, and available on YouTube after the service on Boxwell Brothers’ website.

Pat was born at home in Milo, IL on March 2, 1941, to Elsie and Edward Hufnagel. Pat graduated from Bradford, IL High School in 1959, and later moved to Corvallis, OR, where she lived for more than 40 years. She married her beloved Jim Derrickson in 1974.  Until his death in 2002 the two enjoyed fishing, camping, water skiing, and musical events with Jim’s country western band.  Their house was a hub of activity hosting numerous friends and family.  Until her retirement at age 70, Pat worked in the medical field as an x-ray technician and billing office manager. She was passionate about people, family and faith. She was active in church, ever ready for baking, crafts or game nights and outdoor activities. Pat loved and cared about people. She made friends easily and delighted in giving to others, using any occasion to share food, crafts or cards. After retirement, she lived near family in Pana, IL and Amarillo, TX. She was Mom to daughter Angie, and many called her “Sis,” “Patsy Ann,” “Aunt Pat,” “Grandma” or “friend.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, “Vance,” Bob, Jim and Jack Hufnagel; two sisters, Sharon Anderson and Carol Oberholtzer; her beloved husband, “Jimmy”; and one grandson, Jack Regnier.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela Huber Lust (David); three sisters, Marie Bennison (Jim), Nancy Bland (Jeff), and Jan Booker (Jeff); a brother, Steve Hufnagel (Debbie); beloved stepdaughter, Lori Derrickson Regnier (Jerry); stepson, Greg Derrickson (Sandy); five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

  1. Pat was one of those people who are GENUINELY sweet and truly caring. We were “volunteer” buddies at Pana Community Hospital. Enjoyed many long conversations. My prayers for your comfort and peace. May all your memories be blessings.

  2. Pat was my dearest friend for over 50 years we spent many fun filled weekends together when we both were single. On friday night we would take our girls Darlynn and Angie and go to the arctic circle for fries with special sauce. going to the Oregon coast was another special outing we enjoyed together. After Pat married jimmy, we spent lots of fun weekends water skiing. there are so many, many wonderful memories I have of my sweet and caring friend .my heart is sad but I know she is in heaven where she longed to go, love Donna Jackson

  3. My deepest condolences to Pat’s family and friends! She was the sweetest lady and will be missed by many. I remember the voicemail that she left with a message to congratulate me on my nursing graduation and the big smile that I got realizing that she was still thinking of me. I’m grateful to have met her and spend a little time with her while volunteering at the food pantry. She loved her family so much. Rest in peace Pat!

  4. We are so sorry to hear this. Pat was our neighbor in Pana, and close friend to my mother, Carleen Pickett. What a kind and beautiful lady. It was our privilege to know her both as neighbor and friend. Sending sympathy and prayers for comfort in your loss.

  5. Pat was a very sweet soul. I didn’t know her very long before she moved from Illinois but, I know the people there who knew her loved her very deeply. To those I offer condolences.

    Not, what was their church, nor what was their creed?
    But had they befriended those really in need?
    Were they ever ready, with a word of good cheer,

    But how many were sorry when they passed away?
