Philip Howard Garner, 70, of Amarillo, TX, formerly of Pueblo, CO., passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2022.

Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving and caring heart left a beacon of light for all his family and friends. His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by all.

Philip was born in Pueblo, CO on June 25, 1951, to Betty Jean and Philip Hale Garner. Philip was a graduate of Pueblo South High School Class of 1969.

Philip was a member of the Optimist Club and spent the majority of his career in the mortgage and brokering business. Throughout Philip’s life he was an avid fan, player, and referee of many sports, including his last endeavor in the Texas pool league.

Philip had a knack for fixing just about anything, a passion for muscle cars and was quick to make a stranger into a friend.

Survived by his brother Greg Garner, children Carrie (Ron) Gravatt, Bradley (Jenny) Garner, Shanae (Ty) Weber, Tyson (Kaci) Garner, grandchildren Austin (Rebecca) Kowalczyk, Lindsey (Ann) Gravatt, Kayla (Dillon) Meserve, Taylor Gravatt, Hailey Garner, Tallia Garner, Baylee Garner and great grandchildren Martin Kowalczyk, Dixie Meserve, and Rylee Gravatt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

  1. I was sadden to hear of my friend Phil had passed away. We when to school together , worked together at the Pueblo Chieftain and played many softball games , in leagues and tournaments together.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to Phil’s children, brother Greg and to Yolanda and Kathy.

  2. I was sad to here my friend since high school Phi had passed away. My prayers and thoughts go out to Phil’s children Carrie, Bradley, Shanae and Tyson. Phil’s Brother Greg. Also Yolanda and Kathy.
    I hope he’s in heaven cruising main in his 69 Charger . RIP my Buddy
