Phillip Derwin Morris passed away on April 12, 2021 after a brief illness.

Phil as his family and friends called him, was born to Emilie Burton Morris and William E. Morris, Sr. in Breckenridge, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father William E. Morris, Sr., is brother William E. Morris, Jr., a nephew Erick Baird, and his step-father Dr. C. Joseph Batson.

He is survived by his mother Emilie Morris Batson, his daughter Emilie Ann McCollum, step-daughter Misty McCollum, his grandchildren Addyn, Addisen and Kasen and his best and most loyal friend Martha Lynn McCollum. Uncle Robert Burton and wife Ann, cousins Carajean Archer and Leah Vandergriff and an aunt Joan Williams.

Phil was a musician. He started taking drum lessons when he was seven years old and was playing professionally by age twelve playing with a Country Western Band on Amarillo Boulevard unbeknown to his parents. Although he played some Country, Rock and Roll was his music genre.

Phil danced through life with an ever-ready smile, dimples, and a love for people who loved to laugh and enjoy great music.

Phil collected all types of music memorabilia from sheet music to guitars and drums. Phil worked for several different companies throughout his life in order to support his music career. He attended Amarillo College.

Memorials may be given in his Memory to your favorite charity or the SPCA , 11901 Coulter St., Amarillo, Texas, 79119.
