Reta Colleen Hudson, 91, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in Amarillo, TX.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Reta was born on April 4, 1932, in Childress, TX to Elmore C. Wiley and Bessie Teague Wiley. She married Billy George Hudson on March 5, 1949 in Wellington.
Reta was devoted to her family and friends, cherishing traditions such as Sunday dinners and memorable holiday gatherings. She loved nature, her gardens, and any animal that crossed her path. Reta ensured that every bird and squirrel on Polk Street was well-fed, even going so far as to sneak cookies into their well-rounded diets. Additionally, she enjoyed fishing, often out-fishing even the most talented fishermen in her family. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, humor, and unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed in 2014.
Survivors include her son, Rushe Hudson and wife Janis of Amarillo; a daughter, Lisa Hulsey and husband Carl of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Bobby Hudson, Macie Jefferson, Katie Barnes and Hilary Hulsey; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Ian, and Smith; and one great-great grandson, Evan.
The family would like to thank Care Cottage, Shannon Williams, and Maria Ford for their support and love for Reta.
