friends and family at his home on November 4, 2022. Richard was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War and spent a total of 30 years in the United States Army.

Richard was born on June 10, 1936, in Dekalb, TX to his parents Denzil Wright and Ollie Virginia (Smith) Henry. When he was just 18, Richard joined the Army. Richard would go on to serve in the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Germany, Korea, and the Panama Canal Zone. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Army Commendation and Army Achievement Medals, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Legion of Merit for his service to our country.

During his first tour of duty in Germany, he met Ursula Seifert, who he married in October 1959. Together, they raised four wonderful children.

After retiring in 1984 in Fort Monmouth, NJ, Richard moved to El Paso, TX where he kept busy working around the house and working as a custodian at a local church. Eventually, Richard relocated to Amarillo TX where he met and married Teresa Frizell on December 12, 2012.

Richard was preceded in death by both his parents, Sisters, Ethel Marie Friday and Ima Faye Henry, brothers, Doyle, Bobby, Pat and Charles, and one Stepdaughter, B’Anna Raye Scoggins.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa, his first wife Ursula Henry of Foss OK, his children, and their spouses: Doyle and Sonia (Miller) Henry of Middlefork IN, Scott and Tatiana (Rodyukova) Henry of Fayetteville NC, and Ursula (Henry) and Tommy Duerr of Foss OK. His stepchildren: Bob Henry of Fremont CA, Jami See and Jill See of Carlsbad NM,  David Marshall See of Artesia NM and Jimmy and Lauri See of Amarillo TX. His step-son-in-law, Billy Scroggins of Vega TX.  His grandchildren: Travis Henry of Colorado Springs CO, Stephen and Jessica (Streit) Duerr of Cordell OK, Devon Henry of Frankfort IN, Shelby (Henry) and Noah Woolley of Middlefork IN. Three great-grandchildren: Jack, Felix, and Milo Duerr of Cordell OK. Nineteen step-grandchildren: Dylan Henry of Fremont CA, Alex Voronts of New York City NY, Joshua Logan of Austin TX, Brian and Shaylee Scroggins of Vega TX, Trey and Cameron Srader, Angelo and Mya Camarillo, Shelby See, Shaylynn, Shaun and Shane Stephen all of Carlsbad, NM, Emily, Savannah, Tristan and David See of San Angelo TX, Jazmen, Maximillian and Georgia See of Amarillo TX and one step great grandchild: Everleigh Scroggins of Amarillo TX and another due in April 2023. One sister, Ginny Ray of Mena AR. And one Sister-in-law, Linda (Barnett) Henry of Amarillo TX.

  1. We so enjoyed having Richard as our next door neighbor. Larry’s mother loved having him next door from the minute he moved, he often cooked really good food and shared with her. Deverle really liked men in the sweetest way. Teresa, evidently you and Richard was just what the other needed. Sorry for your loss. Life well lived. 😢🌹

  2. I haven’t seen you for a while but you have always been on my mind and in my heart. Aunt Teresa I so sorry I’ve not had the pleasure of meeting you. From everything I’ve been told about you im sure you fit right into this motley crew. I have already put you in my heart.
    RIP Uncle Richard you boys try to be a little dignified.

  3. We love & miss you Uncle Richard. I will always cherish the times we went to the Cowboy Poet meetings and sang together with Uncle Pat. I miss you both. RIP. Love you

  4. I will miss you very much, you were a true, honest, fun loving wonderful husband . Thank for all you have done to make my life complete. Thank you being a wonderful papaw , and step father. RIP my love . You will always be in my heart, and my thoughts.
