Robert “Bob” Edward House Sr., 87, was called home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, August 22, 2023, from his home in Amarillo, Texas.
He was born in Walnut Flats, Kentucky on October 19, 1935, to Grover and Lulabelle. Bob and his twin brother, John, were the youngest of 13 children and loved fishing and skipping school together.
Bob began his career in the United States Airforce at the age of 18. While stationed in Amarillo, he met Melba, and they were married April 2, 1960. Bob served his country in tours to France, Thailand, and Vietnam attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. After 20 years of service, Bob retired from the Airforce and began a career with Southwestern Public Service until his retirement.
He was driven by a desire to work hard for his family and help his community as an athletic coach for several years. Every few summers, Bob would take his children deep-sea fishing in Panama City, Florida. He and John would take their families out on the ocean for a day of fun. John usually won the “biggest fish” contest, and Bob would claim the kids near him had scared the bigger fish to John’s side of the boat.
Bob invited Jesus Christ in his heart in 1966 at Grace Baptist Church of Amarillo, and was baptized in 2005 by Daniel Bowles at Southwest Baptist, Oasis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Melba Ruth, and their 3 children: Robert House, Jr. and wife, Lynda; Tye House and wife, Rebecca; and Meshelle Bowles and husband, Daniel. Bob was grandpa to Robby, Joshua, Blake, Megan, Joseph, Lauren, Rachel, Caleb, Macael, and Jeremiah. He was great-grandpa to Milo and Nicolai.
Visitation will be at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
Services will be Monday, August 28, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tye House, Danny Bowles, Robby House, Joshua House, Caleb Bowles, Blake House, and Jeremiah Bowles.

His was a worthy testimony of living a meaningful life during the journey to eternal life.
It was always joyful to sit close enough to Bob and Melba in worship service and hear him sing. He was gifted with a beautiful voice.

Your fellow servants in Christ,
Uncle Bob was very special to my family and his brother John and his wife Jean. Every summer when we were kids . Deepsea fishing Uncle Bob said John you gonna eat tonight because Uncle Bob had two stringers of fish to Dad’s zip. Then all of a sudden dad hooked a king mackerel, then a red snapper then Ty hooked a 23 pound Tuna. That’s all she wrote. We love you Uncle Bob. May God rest your soul.
What a blessing to know our loved one has gone on to be with our Lord.
Our hearts go out to Rob and all the family in the passing of his dad. May the Lord continue to be your strength, your fortress. May He give you of His grace and mercy.
We love all the family.
