Robert Lee Lovato

Robert Lee Lovato, 65, of Dumas, died Saturday, January 4, 2020.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at HIS Church Dumas Campus with Frank Gordoa and David Preston officiating.  Burial will be at the Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox

Robert was born on January 17, 1954 in Sena, New Mexico to Vidal and Flora Lucero.  He had worked for several years in the workshop at the Texas Panhandle Centers.  He loved playing basketball, bowling, and track in the Special Olympics.  He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vidal and Flora Lucero; two brothers, Ralph Lucero and Vidal Lucero Jr.; and a sister, Mabel Valenciano.

He is survived by three brothers, Ernest Lucero and wife Lori, Alex Lucero and wife Sally, and Martin Lucero, all of Dumas; four sisters, Loraine Arenivar and husband Mario, Pauline Lucero and husband Gerardo, all of Dumas, Lydia Lucero and Jesus Gutierrez of Amarillo, and Peggy Rodriguez and husband Ruben of Broken Arrow, Ok.  Also his host home provider for 18 years, Camalou Tackitt; very special friend, Margaret Murphy; all his friends at Texas Panhandle Centers and his friends from Special Olympics.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

  1. I loved Robert. I was a supervisor at Puckett in the late 1990’s and Robert was just the nicest and most caring man to work with. He walked to work most days and was excellent at his job at United. I just noticed his obituary. August 11, 2020. God bless him. Heaven has received another angel. I will always keep him in my heart.

  2. To the family and Camilou (also family)– He was very very loved and showed that every day I saw him. HIs huge smile and greetings were always a blessing. I worked with him in 2 different positions at ASCI on Amarillo Blvd and as a Case Mgr. He has a heart of gold and shared it daily. I’m truly blessed he is in my heart today and always will have fond memories!!

  8. Oh Robert, I am sorry that we never saw each other since we were children. We were close and played together a lot when we were kids. Im so sad. May you Rest in Peace Primo!!
