Roy Dale Byrd, 83, of Dumas, TX died Sunday, June 12, 2022.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Roy Dale was born on December 13, 1938, in Oklahoma to Roy Earl and Natalia Byrd. He graduated from Dumas High School. He had worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. Roy Dale loved to calf rope and had roped over 50,000 calves. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Baxter Byrd; a daughter, Shawnann Phillips; a brother, Donald Byrd; and a sister, Shirley Hokanson.
He is survived by his daughter, Mitzi Byrd of Amarillo; seven sisters, Daphne Lackey of Sunray, Fern Page of Slaton, TX., Ramona Wren of Amarillo, Patricia Smith and husband Galen of Alba, TX., Gloria Adams and husband Roger of Dumas, Carolyn McGee and husband Ed of Lubbock, Rhodora Alberty of Amarillo; and two brothers, Larry Byrd and wife Mary Ann of Dumas, and Gary Byrd of Dumas.
