Sandra Cone Huneke

Sandra Cone Huneke, 90, died peacefully at her home on Monday, March 20, 2023. Sandra was born in Amherst, TX on December 8, 1932. Sandra and her sisters Sharon and Judith grew up on a farm during the depression, which led Sandra to lifelong values of thrift and industry. After graduating from Texas Tech, Sandra moved to Houston where she met her future husband, David Huneke. Sandra and David returned to David’s hometown Amarillo, Texas where they ran and ultimately owned Huneke Furniture for 54 years.

Sandra enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and reading and was especially grateful for these activities after David died. Sandra possessed a sharp wit, but also a soft heart, especially for those close to her. Sandra had three daughters, Karen Huneke and husband Harvey Richey, LeeAnn Nipp and husband Darrell, Carol Huneke, and Hayley Jewell; five grandchildren, Taylor Nipp, Madison Boyland, Hayden Baca, Ruby Peven, and Jackson Peven. And three great-grandchildren.
