Many of her classmates were lifetime friends. Her class reunions were top priority. She married Joe Pat Mowery in 1955, and together had two daughters raising them in Dumas. In 1983, she married John McFarren, formerly of Stinnett, TX. They stayed busy playing golf, camping, fishing, and playing cards with great friends. Sara was a member of First Baptist Church. She also sang in the choir for several years. Sara loved to sing!

Sara’s greatest joy came from her family and especially her grandchildren. She cherished her time with them, teaching them to play SKIP-BO, put puzzles together, board games, and always enjoyed a bowl of ice cream together. She was their greatest fan when they began playing their sports.

Alzheimer’s disease stole many things from Sara over the years. However, her sweet spirit, tender heart, laughter, and love for others was always present. She was a beautiful soul.

  1. I feel I have known Sara all of my life being an underclass member but feeling part of Joe Pat’s family as I attended a lot of their family get togethers with a good friend, Melba Haile. Then as I remarried to Tom Sheldon, we shared our Lord together in Sunday School and Church at First United Methodist; even praying together as a class at their house for a “sick” washer and dryer. LOL She was truly everything described in obituary and other recordings. Grieve-as-you must, not-as-others are telling you is righjt, wrong or indifferent. You are none orphaned if you cling tightly to our Lord as He will never leave or forsake you. May He bless each and every single one of you. I had lost touch with her and this horrible illness since Tom went to Heaven in 2002 and I moved the next year to be near my Beth and her family.

  2. Happy “smiles” from all of us who knew her smile. May you feel the presence of a Holy God with arms around you all.
