Sharon Janice Mayes
Sharon Janice Mayes, 82, passed from this world on January 20, 2023, to the arms of her beloved husband Bill.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Comanche Trail Church of Christ with Loran Harper officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
Sherry was born on November 8, 1940, in Littlefield, Texas to Johnnie Richard Blair and Neoma Gilley Blair. She grew up on the family farm and shared many stories of her early life there with her sister Sandy, brother Butch, and several cousins. She moved to Amarillo in the 50’s and graduated from Palo Duro High School. There she met the love of her life, Bill Mayes. They were married in 1961 and remained a loving couple until Bill’s death in 2003. She was a loving mother to their three sons Greg, Gary, and Galen. Sherry was an avid golfer and she and Bill took several trips to their favorite courses.
Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother.
She is survived by her sons, Greg and wife Michelle, Gary and wife Mary, and Galen and wife Yvette; sister, Sandy Kelly; sister-in-law, Barbara Blair; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
