Thomas Peyton “Tom” Bivins passed away on May 4, 2022.  The son of a pioneering Panhandle family, Tom devoted his life to family, friends and the local community.

As a member of the Bivins family of Amarillo, Tom’s community service focused on the importance of supporting the economic, cultural, and educational efforts of West Texans. His family has been in the Texas Panhandle since 1890, and they have supported a wide range of civic and philanthropic activities in Amarillo. With a pioneering spirit and the desire to help others, Tom and the Bivins family have left their mark on generations of Amarillo citizens.

Tom attended Westminster College and the Ranch Management Program at Texas Christian University (TCU). He was a founding partner in Corsino Cattle Company, a fully integrated cow/calf and stocker cattle operation. He was the vice president and director of Exell Cattle Company and part of the Bivins Brothers Partnership, a ranching operation formed in 1977.

Tom also served on numerous boards and commissions, including the Mary E. Bivins Foundation, the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), Boys Ranch, the Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation, and the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC).

Above all else, Tom was a dedicated family man and rancher who spent countless hours at his beloved XL Ranch with his parents, Betty and Lee, and his brothers, Levi, Teel and Mark.  A loving husband to Julie and proud father to Peyton, Jenny, Nellie and Keats. Tom was a friend to all who knew him and a father figure to his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.  A devoted horseshow Dad, hunter and angler, Tom’s countless outdoor adventures were shared with close friends across the country – from the Texas Panhandle to the Florida Keys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Truscott Bivins and Betty Teel Bivins Lovell and her husband John Lovell, and two brothers, Levi Bivins and Teel Bivins.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie Henderson Bivins, his four beloved children Peyton Bivins Sidwell and husband Trey Sidwell, Jenny Elizabeth Bivins, Emily Nell Norfleet, and Edward Keats Norfleet III and wife Malaise Murphy Norfleet, his brother Mark Ernest Bivins and wife Ellen Smith Bivins, his granddaughters Lora Parker Norfleet and Price Elizabeth Norfleet, and many nieces and nephews.

A service will be held Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.  The service will be live streamed on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/standrewsamarillo/live, and on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxdBm_RpuS_f44GAr4xdMsw.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a contribution to the “Tom Bivins Senior Hunger Fund” through the Mary E. Bivins Foundation or your charity of choice.
