Timothy Lynn Read, 58, of Amarillo, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 18, 2019 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating.   Burial will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Old Barclay Cemetery in Blackhawk County, IA.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

He was born April 25, 1961 in Council Grove, KS to Donald and Sandra (Lindquist) Read.  Tim grew up on a farm in the Wilsey area where he worked with his grandfather.

He began his work career with IBP in Emporia, KS.  He later was transferred to IBP in Waterloo, IA.  In 1996 he was promoted and relocated to Amarillo, TX.  IBP merged with Tyson and Tim remained employed with them for the past 35 years.  Tim and Glenda made their home in Amarillo and enjoyed traveling, spending time at the lake, renovating, landscaping and decorating properties, enjoyed the outdoors but mostly was a very proud father and loved his grandchildren with all his heart.  He was known to them as Pappa Tim.  Tim was an avid Texas Tech fan.  He was also a very loving, compassionate, caring and devoted husband.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Shawn Read; a nephew, Stefan Bryce Read; and a brother-in-law, Charles Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Allen of Amarillo; three daughters, Ashley Rambo and husband Ryan of Center Point, IA; Tiffany Cardwell and husband Louie III of Amarillo; and Emily Allen of Cedar Rapids, IA; a brother, Donald Read and wife Mary of Winfield, KS; his grandchildren, Reece, Aiden, Austin, Reid, Four and Max; his two cats, Molly and Precious; a niece, McKenna; two nephews, Tyson and Donovan; his in-laws, Gary and Donna Brown; a sister-in-law, Barbara Rundle and her husband Richard; a brother-in-law, Frank Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to your favorite charity.

    So very sorry to hear of your sudden loss of Tim. He will be missed by so many in so many different places. You and your family are in my prayers and may your faith and many friends help provide some comfort

  2. My condolences Glenda for your loss. Tim was a great boss and person. We will all cherish the memories we have of him and hope to keep his spirit alive in the work that we do. I will keep you and the rest of the family in my prayers. God bless.

  3. I had the pleasure to have worked for Tim at Tyson for 5 years, through out my time at Tyson he was the one person who took me under his wing and showed me a lot. Some may say I was his ” Favorite” I would like to think I was. He always wanted the best for me, he was the reason why I went back to school and he is the reason I am where I am today with my family. I never met Glenda but i know he loved her deeply my condolence to her and her family during this time. May the lord give you the strength! Tim you will be missed!! Thank you for everything you did for me!

    Our thoughts and prays are with you. We are broken hearted with Tim’s loss, he was a great man, and always did things right. He taught me so much and always had great times with Tim! He will be sorely missed by all of us. We will never figure out why many of the great leave so early in life.

  5. So sorry for your loss Glenda and family. As a fellow warehousing manager I spent many times talking with Tim. I know he was looking forward to your place in Florida and Prairie Du Chien. I was looking forward to stopping at the Black Angus and seeing him on my travels up the river. He was a great guy and will be truly missed. It wasn’t his time but I know God is welcoming him with open arms. May God Bless

  7. Thoughts and prayers to my dearest sister and her children and families. Tim has been a valued and loved member of our family and will be missed terribly. Our hearts are heavy and saddened but we’ve been blessed with knowing, loving and building memories with Tim over the years. Hes is in the Lords house resting in eternal peace. I’ll miss picking on you, Tim! Love you always & forever!
