Tracy Ann Karr, 49, of Amarillo, TX passed away on October 9, 2022.

Our dearest Tracy was born on December 26

th

, 1972, to Lee and Joyce Hutchens and big sister Kathy. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1991 and went on to get her teaching certification from West Texas State.

While attending WT in 1992 she met the forever love of her life, Sam Karr. They married in June of 1995 and moved to Lubbock so that Sam could attend and graduate from Texas Tech Law School. After a short stay (although Tracy would say it was too long) in Texarkana, Texas, Tracy and Sam moved back to Amarillo for Sam to practice law and for Tracy to teach for Amarillo ISD.

Tracy always dreamed of being a mother and in 2000 she gave birth to her son, Hogan, followed by her daughter Caroline in 2003. They were the absolute pride and joy of her life and Tracy took the job of mothering, well….to a whole new level of love. While the kids were young she filled her time volunteering at the kids schools, honing her passion for cooking and nutrition, growing in her faith studying God’s word, and being a beautiful wife and amazing friend.

When Caroline was three, Tracy’s passion to teach called her back into the classroom and she began teaching the three year old preschool class at St. Stephen Methodist Church. It was here that her love for life, Jesus, and his children really shined and she planted a harvest in the lives of these little ones that will forever continue on. In 2017 Tracy started teaching at San Jacinto Christian Academy and taught there until God called her into the mission field of life.

Tracy loved to “adventure” and traveling to new places with her family and friends was her favorite pastime. In August of 2019 Tracy was diagnosed with breast cancer. This private and difficult journey would take her adventuring to a whole new level, but to those who had the privilege of journeying with her, they are forever changed. One only had to watch her face light up as she talked about her Jesus to know that while the rest of us were walking on sidewalks, she was walking with angels.

Her words of faith, hope and encouragement to so many are living legacies that will live on and on in the hearts and minds of all she loved. Her greatest desire was for everyone who knew her, to also know her Jesus and to all those who do we say, “We love you sweet Tracy, enjoy the greatest adventure ever, and we will see you soon.”

Tracy is survived by her husband, Sam Karr; her son and daughter-in-law Hogan and Haili Karr; her daughter, Caroline Karr; her mother, Joyce Ransom; her father, Lee Hutchens; her sister and brother-in-law, Scott and Kathy Walton; her mother-in-law, Carole Karr;  sister in law, Pam Sames; her nieces Lindsey and Taylor; and, her nephews Austin, Taylor, Drake and Brady; stepbrother, Jeff Ransom; and stepsister, Melissa Wilson.

She is preceded in death by her step-father Bruce Ransom and father-in-law Bud Karr.
