Velma “Jean” Ferguson, 82, of Amarillo passed away on March 3, 2023.
Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Jean was born May 11, 1940, in Clayton, NM to Woodrow and Anna Lee McCafferty. Jean was a loving and caring woman who always took care of everyone around her. She had an open-door at home and was welcoming to all of her family and friends. She would run errands for family or help pay a bill. She truly was the epitome of grace and selflessness. Jean loved to create things, arts and crafts being her favorite. She loved playing cards and was always the life of the party. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by parents, Woodrow and Anna Lee McCafferty; son, Leslie Ferguson; and daughter-in-law, Pam Oakley.
Jean is survived by her husband Theo Ferguson; son Milton Oakley; daughter, Denise Geiser, and husband John; brother, Robert McCafferty, and wife Donna; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
