Vera V. Pierce

Vera V. Pierce, 97, of Amarillo, Texas left her

earthly

home on August 7, 2022, surrounded by loved ones, and went to her eternal home that she so longed for.

Memorial Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 11, 2022, in the Polk Street United Methodist Church Chapel with Rev. Kevin Deckard officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Born in Fort Supply, Oklahoma on May 31, 1925, Vera V. Pierce was born into a farming family with five brothers- Carl, Albert, George, J. D., and Vern. As her father stated, he had five sons and each of them had a sister. People would say ten children? He would always just grin and let them believe what they may but there were only the six children. Vera very early in life learned the meaning of hard work on the farm. There was always a chore waiting and a meal waiting to be cooked. Vera became a fabulous cook learning from her mother and grandmother. When you had a dinner invitation from Vera you always enjoyed a wonderful meal, and she would always bid you goodnight with a delightful sack of leftovers. She had a unique way of making you feel right at home and truly loved.

Vera spent her childhood in Fort Supply and attended college at Alva Community College in Alva, Oklahoma. While there she developed a passion for reading. It is still unknown as to her family just how many books Vera really read over her lifetime. At the amazing age of 96, she was still going to the library at The Craig Assisted Living Facility, and it was nothing for her to come back to her room with six or more books.

She was a great conversationalist and could converse on about just any topic you wanted to talk about. But her greatest skill was that she truly listened to people and always was delighted in finding out all about you.

United in marriage at an early age to Bob Wayne Campbell brought her the absolute love of her life- a son Russell Wayne Campbell. After Bob passed away, she came to know a bigger love of her life- Willian (Bill) Pierce. With the marriage to Bill brought her two more wonderful sons that she dearly loved. She & Bill had a glorious 50 years of marriage with many wonderful adventures.

This gracious, loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend will be sorely missed by a host of people. She is survived by three sons, Russell Wayne Campbell and wife Sandy Campbell of Amarillo, Jack Pierce and wife P.J. of Austin, and Charlie Pierce and wife Sharon Pierce of Austin; along with a multitude of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her imprint stretches wide and deep among those that were so lucky to have her touch their lives. Her daily prayer for all her loved ones was that they know she loved them and that they knew Jesus loved them.

We will see you again on heaven’s side!
