Vicki Lynn Kirksey

Vicki Lynn Short Emerson Kirksey of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Amarillo entered the gates of heaven on December 28, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.  She was looking forward to the reunion with her husband and family.

Vicki attended South Lawn Elementary, Fannin Junior High and Amarillo High School.  She had many fond memories from her times at AHS when it was downtown on Polk St and she was a member of the first senior class to graduate out of the new AHS building on Danbury Dr.

Vicki was born February 6, 1956.  She was a brave, strong and independent lady.  She moved to the Dallas Fort Worth Area in the 1980s to expand her horizons.  She loved antiques and ran a store in Gainesville for a few years, which gave her the opportunity to build her collection of antique furniture and ladies hats.  She married Michael Hubert Kirksey on Sept 1, 2001 and soon after they built their forever home in Arlington. They enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and went to many games.  They also enjoyed traveling and had many close friends.  For several years she enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings for those members added to the Short family.  She was an intelligent insurance underwriter working for RSII for many years, where she created close relationships with her coworkers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Earlann (Williams) Short and her husband Michael Kirksey.

She is survived by her daughter, JoLynn Connell and husband Zach, son James David Emerson and Chantal. Her sister, Brenda and husband Johnny Bennett.  Her brother Randy and wife Debbie Short.  Her extended family, daughter Tami and husband William Arnold, in-laws Rosemary White and husband Don, and Becky Kirksey. Grandchildren Ashton Connell and Estrella, Caison McKinney, Charles Mojica Jr, Hannah Harper, and Chris Harper. Great-grandchild, Eleana Vedia. And multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Vicki will be put to rest with her husband Michael at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.   Her Amarillo family and friends will be celebrating her life with a gathering at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount Blvd, on Saturday January 13
