Vivian Yvonne Karlin

Vivian Yvonne Karlin, known affectionately by her friends and family as ‘Vonnie’, passed peacefully on October 29, 2022. Lovingly deemed as a firecracker, Vivian was born on July 4, 1936, to Floyd and Irene McCoy in Beaver, OK. Vivian married the love of her life, Louis Dean Karlin, on July 30, 1954. They raised three adoring daughters and loved each other deeply for 41 years.

Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Vivian instilled a love of card games in her family and enjoyed many hours filled with joy, laughter, and giving everyone a run for their money. She also enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Dallas Cowboys play football.  She was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star, Palo Duro Lodge #1239. When her girls were young, she was actively involved in the Order of Rainbows. Vivian retired from Nunn Electric in 1986. Afterward, she and Louis moved to Lake Eufala and spent their retirement years enjoying each other’s company and the scenic views. After Louis’ death, she moved back to Amarillo to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Irene McCoy; beloved husband, Louis Dean; her brother, Jerry McCoy; her brother, James McCoy, and his wife, Saundra; her sisters, Joyce Noble and Claudine (Dean) Shipley; and a great-granddaughter, Kaley Marie Stewart.

She is survived by and profoundly missed by her three daughters and three sons-in-law, Vivian and Steve Long, Cindy and Andy Mays, and Teresa and Eddie Prock; four grandchildren Chadd (Jamee) Lemaster, Machael (Elijah) Stewart, Lindsey (Matthew) Walker, and Christa Prock; step-grandchildren, Eric (Cherity) Mays, and Tara Berry; a wonderful brother-in-law, Ethan Noble; and eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Mary, Stacy, Valerie, Pola, Amber, Erica and Ludy for their loving care of Vivian during her time at Mary’s Place, as well as BJ, Jacqulyn, Martha and Julie with High Plains Senior Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Mary’s Place, MCS Private Care Home, 4807 S Rusk, Amarillo, TX 79110.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
