Walter Charles Solomon, 78, of Amarillo, TX, left this life on March 29, 2022.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Church of Christ at The Colonies, with Dick Marcear, Minister, officiating. Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Walter was born in Selma, AL on March 19, 1944, to Richard and Mamie Solomon. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Immensely loved by all.
Walter grew up in Amarillo, TX, and attended and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1962. He married Mary Solomon on March 6, 1964. Together, they had two beautiful daughters, Staci and Marci.
Walter loved his wife, family, and friends more than anything. Since the age of 16, he spent much of his free time in his shop, bringing life back to old Corvettes and other vintage cars. He would often attend and race in the local drag races, taking his family along for the adventure. When he wasn’t spending time working on cars or at the drag way, he was creating art with his metal sculptures.
Walter was a strong Christian in his beliefs and saw God throughout every moment. He shared his faith throughout his loved ones and was a Charter member of Church of Christ at The Colonies.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; and his siblings, Genie Mott and Eloise Steinman.
He is survived by daughters, Staci Solomon and partner John, and Marci Barnhart and husband Jeff; brother, Dick Solomon; five grandchildren, Christian Bressler and husband Brady, Austin Cartwright and wife Natasha, Halee Bowman and husband Carson, Kayla Barnhart, and Blake Cartwright and wife Meagan; five great-grandchildren, Landri Bressler, Lincoln Bressler, Evander Cartwright, Cason Cartwright, and Baylor Cartwright; and dog, Maci.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the following charities were meaningful to the family, L’Allegra Study Club Project Christmas Card, Church of Christ at The Colonies, American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
