Werner Dean Koeppe

Werner Dean Koeppe, 91, of Dumas, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Troy Scroggins officiating.  Military rites will be by American Legion Post #224.  Burial will be at Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Werner was born on July 16, 1932, in Martinsburg, NE. to Werner and Ena Koeppe.  He grew up on a farm and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he spent two years in Germany.  He worked as a farm hand for Walbaum Egg Plant in Wakefield, NE., and IBP in Dakota City as a beef luger.  He was made general foreman superintendent at different packing plants until retirement.  He continued to work various part-time jobs for Walmart and delivering electric motors from Liberal Electric before moving to Dumas in 2000.  He then helped on farms and worked as a security guard.  He enjoyed working on old tractors and piddling in the garage.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Koeppe; two daughters, Cindy Koeppe and Patty Finke; three brothers, William A. Koeppe, Bill Koeppe, and Ervin Koeppe; a sister, Shirley Beldon; and two great-granddaughters.

He is survived by a brother Donald Koeppe and wife Doris of Ponca, Ne; a son, Bruce Koeppe, and wife Kim of Rose Hill, Ks.; a daughter, Pam Jameson of Dumas; fourteen grandchildren, Jamie, Angila, Kyle, Nichole, Joshua, Jessica, Samantha, Jacob, Chandra, Chelsea, Ashley, Erin, Hahlee, and Zeb; twenty-six great grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren.
