Wilbur L. (Dub) Ash, Jr.
Wilbur L. (Dub) Ash, Jr., 79, of Amarillo, TX passed away on June 20, 2022.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at First Baptist Church in the Chapel. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Dub was born on August 19, 1942, in Roxton, TX to Wilbur Lee Ash, and Catherine McKnight Ash. Wilbur Sr. later married Irene Metcalf Ash, who raised Dub and his five siblings. They lived in Ashdown, Arkansas then moved to Odessa, TX. He graduated from Odessa High School and attended Odessa Jr. College, Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, then West Texas State University. He worked for Cen-Vi-Ro of Texas, building The Sanford Dam. He and Darlene married on August 14, 1965, and moved to Amarillo in 1966. He went to work for Crowe-Gulde Construction, purchasing and engineering. In 1977 he became the first Potter County Purchasing Agent, retiring in 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene; son, Brent Ash and wife Melany; son, Jason Ash and wife Cari; grandchildren, Avery Ash Lantz and husband Tyler, Riley Ash, Ayden Ash, and John Christian Ash; sisters, Dot Brasher and husband Chris, Lynn Risinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Ash; sisters, Nancy Hyde, and Barbara Johnson.
