Wilbur L. (Dub) Ash, Jr., 79, of Amarillo, TX passed away on June 20, 2022.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at First Baptist Church in the Chapel. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Dub was born on August 19, 1942, in Roxton, TX to Wilbur Lee Ash, and Catherine McKnight Ash. Wilbur Sr. later married Irene Metcalf Ash, who raised Dub and his five siblings. They lived in Ashdown, Arkansas then moved to Odessa, TX. He graduated from Odessa High School and attended Odessa Jr. College, Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, then West Texas State University. He worked for Cen-Vi-Ro of Texas, building The Sanford Dam. He and Darlene married on August 14, 1965, and moved to Amarillo in 1966. He went to work for Crowe-Gulde Construction, purchasing and engineering. In 1977 he became the first Potter County Purchasing Agent, retiring in 2001.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene; son, Brent Ash and wife Melany; son, Jason Ash and wife Cari; grandchildren, Avery Ash Lantz and husband Tyler, Riley Ash, Ayden Ash, and John Christian Ash; sisters, Dot Brasher and husband Chris, Lynn Risinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Ash; sisters, Nancy Hyde, and Barbara Johnson.

    I just read this morning about the death of Mr. Ash. Please know that I am thinking about all of you.
    Mr. Ash was such a wonderful Christian example. He was a leader in his family and in his church.. I still have a memory of seeing your family at the 8:30 service each Sunday. Faithfulness and leadership are how I will remember Mr. Ash.
    May God give you His grace and peace.

  5. Meeting Dub and his beautiful bride Darlene at Wendy’s where I was working was such a big blessing for me. Dub was such a warm hearted gentleman. Darlene is such kind hearted soul, and they both always made me feel like I was family. Mr. Dub, you will be grately missed…thanks for the memories my friend 💔. Sweet Darlene, I continue to lift you and your family up in prayer and send you lots of hugs and love from Oklahoma.
