Wilton R. “Red” Irwin, 85, of Amarillo, TX passed away on June 10, 2021.

Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Wilton was born on April 20, 1936, in Dawson County, TX to Irene and Claude Irwin.

Wilton worked as a carpenter most of his life and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He loved carving and wood working.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Irwin; his son, David Irwin; and his sisters, Joann, Wilta, Mary, and Monte.

He is survived by three daughters, Debra Johnson of Lubbock, TX, Teresa O’Conner of Fort Worth, TX, and Natalie Chapman and husband Billy of Corpus Christi, TX; his companion, Vernell Hiller; his grandchildren, Daniel Irwin, Justin Fouse, Matt Fouse, Christopher O’Conner, Jonathan O’Conner, and Tom Irwin; and his seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

  1. Red was a very kind and gentle man with lots of talent he was a hard working man no matter his age and He was and is like my grandpa to me. We will all miss you Red we’ll all be together again keep watching over us and we’ll see you soon

  2. Our love & prayers are with Red’s family. He loved the Lord & was a gentleman with Talents in wood carving. He was loved by his Church Family at Triumphant Truth Church. We shall miss him.

  3. Red was an awesome gentleman!! My husband, Don Stark, was great friends with Red. He was a favorite of mine too. They met in the Woodcarving Club. My husband passed away 9/17/2015. I will be praying for his family.
