Zachariah Jeffrey Thompson, 34, of Amarillo, TX gained his wings on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
Memorial services will be held at 11am, April 15th, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd in Amarillo, TX.
Zach was born November 3rd, 1988, in Lubbock, TX to Jeff and Ester Thompson. The family moved to Amarillo which is where he grew up and then graduated from Tascosa High School in 2007. He worked for his father and grandfather early on in his career. He then started work at Walmart and enjoyed meeting new people. He also worked at Damron’s Jewelry Guns & Pawn and being the avid history buff he was, he enjoyed learning about weapons and educating people about responsible ownership. He had a passion for World War 2 history and collected guns used during the war. Zach loved to go hunting with his dad, Sugar, Uncle Hootie, and cousin Aaron. He recently inspired his niece Ellie to learn the guitar and she has her first show coming up in June. He loved playing with his nephew Ezra and always got down on his level to play with his toys and Legos. Zachs hobbies included collecting records, playing the guitar, watching movies and playing video games with his friends.
Zach was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sidney and Marian Thompson of Amarillo, TX, and Abel Loera of Lubbock, TX. Survivors include his mother Ester Thompson, of Lubbock, TX; his father Jeff Thompson and wife, Elizabeth of Amarillo, TX; a sister, Erika Salazar, and husband James, of Lubbock, TX; a niece, Elliana Salazar and nephew Ezra Salazar, of Lubbock, TX; an Uncle Hal Thompson and Aunt Carol of Gilbert, AZ; an aunt Jessica Loera of Lubbock, TX; and cousins Leah Thompson, Katherine Schwartz and Aaron Thompson.
Jeff, Elizabeth, and all the family,
I regret I was unable to attend the services for Zach to personally express my heartfelt sympathy to all the family for your tremendous loss. You all remain in my prayers at this time of such great pain and sorrow. May God bless you, each and every one. All my love, Joan Pruett Parr
If it’s one thing I can say about him is the he always had that huge smile on his face. He is such a great time no matter the situation and his love for firearms is beyond amazing. There are so many great qualities but the love for his family is above all. He wouldn’t miss a beat for them and is truly awed. Until we meet again brotha, rock on my dude!!
Zach you will be dearly missed. It was so amazing working with you. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and I will see you again, when Jesus calls for me.
Until then my friend 🙏🏻
Kathy
Zack was always a knowledgeable person regarding any WW1-Cold War weaponry.
He was also a good salesman at walmart or Damerons. You couldn’t say no to Zack.
I am going to miss his history lessons about every AK. Yes even the Albanian or Cuban model. 😆 🤣 😂 . God Bless brother.
I am so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Zach. My heart goes out to Jeff, his wife, and all of Zach’s family. May fond memories help heal the pain of your loss.
Sending prayers and condolences to the family, may the Lord give you comfort and peace knowing that Zack is with our Lord Jesus Christ.
