Zonya Kay Reed, age 60, passed away Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 in Amarillo, Texas.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14th 2022 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Tx.

Zonya was born February 23rd, 1962 in Friona, Tx to Frank and Betty Zon Reed.  Zonya lived in Amarillo until age 7 when she and her family moved to Borger, Tx.  Zonya graduated from Borger High School in 1980. After graduation she worked for ASCO equipment in Amarillo where she was a parts specialist and worked in the heavy equipment parts department.

Zonya was preceded in death by her loving parents Frank Reed (2017) and Betty Reed (2008),  her nephew Blake Reed (2010) and many other family and friends.

Survivors include her loving brother Ronnie Reed and wife Terri of McPherson, Kansas; her niece Tiffany Goracke and husband Ben of Bonner Springs, Kansas; her great nephew Reed Goracke of Bonner Springs, KS;  niece (by marriage) Monica Stephen and husband Josh of Lampasas, TX;  great niece Lili Stephen and great nephew Decil Stephen of Lampasas, Tx. Zonya is celebrated and remembered by many other family and friends.

Zonya never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.  She always had a smile and a shoulder for her friends and family.  She loved socializing and keeping tabs on everyone.  Her family and friends were everything to her.  Zonya loved her dog Jax just as he loved her until he passed over the rainbow bridge- that was probably the best reunion ever.  Anyone who knew Zonya knew her love of sports.  She was a huge lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs, Texas Tech and Nascar.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the FUSE Foundation, 2517 Bell Avenue, Dodge City, Kansas, 67801.  The Fuse Foundation was established by her brother and sister-in-law (Ronnie and Terri Reed).  Zonya’s nephew Blake Reed had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – The FUSE Foundation is a nonprofit group founded in 2008 to provide opportunities for social networking, recreation and education for young adults with Neuromuscular Diseases or McPherson College Blake Reed Mac2Mac Football Scholarship, Attn:  Dave Barrett, 1600 E.   1. Zonya was such a sweet lady and I have never seen her mad or upset. She was always smiling and eager to help any way she could. Zonya will be missed by all who knew her. I’m sorry I can’t be at her service.

  2. Zonya was the friend God gave me to get through a very tough time in my life. Just talking to her made you feel better. Not only a great friend to myself, but of many many others that she met. She Really Never Met a Stranger. The amount of love she had for her friends could be told by all the hugs and laughter she gave. YOU will be missed Zonya.
