Dorotha Louise (McKinney) McCune, 88, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021, at the Craig Methodist Windflower nursing home in Amarillo, Texas.
Private family services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia, TX on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Louise was born in Tulia, TX on September 22, 1932, to Viola and Grady George. Louise grew up in Tulia, TX, and graduated with a GED which she was very proud of. She married James Wade McKinney in 1951 and had 2 sons, Mark Wade and Gregory Lynn. She was preceded in death by James Wade in December 1973. She later married Don L. McCune and was preceded his death in 2000.
Louise was a telemetry clerk at St. Anthony’s hospital where she retired in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her parents Viola and Grady George, her three brothers: Gene George, Jim George, Henry Grady George, and one sister Mary Ethel Wolfe.
She is survived by two sons: Mark Wade McKinney and wife Patti of Skiatook, Oklahoma, and Gregory Lynn McKinney and wife Boycene of Amarillo, Texas. Her grandchildren; Keli Davis and husband Josh; Ty McKinney and wife Mariah, Kyle McKinney and wife Treva, Kayla Shields and husband Matthew. Her great-grandchildren, Lainee, Landen and Logan Davis, Jossalyn and Blakelyn McKinney, Ava, Camden and Harlow McKinney and Mason and Miles Shields.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to High Plains Children’s Home of Amarillo or The Turn Center of Amarillo.
I worked with Louise at the Old St. Anthony’s in CCU . She was the telemetry clerk when I was there. Louise was a very sweet, kind, and professional acting person. I loved working with her.. She will be missed. Betty Becannon
