Elise Weightman Cagle, of Childress, TX left this earth May 10, 2021. She was born March 17, 1938, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Greer (Red) and Faye Weightman. Elise grew up in the Kirkland area graduating from Kirkland High School in 1956. She married Leland Cagle on April 12, 1958, in Claude, Texas. They celebrated 54 years of living life to the fullest until Leland’s passing in 2012.

Elise had a passion and love for bookkeeping and accounting, and this led her into the workforce at various banks. She is best remembered for her work at West Texas Utilities where she along with her co-worker and friend Ruby Smith greeted customers for many years.

Elise loved the outdoors where she kept a garden and loved to can her hard work. She loved fishing, arrowhead hunting, golf, watching old westerns among many other movies and this allowed her to enjoy her true love of alone time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland, of 54 years; her sister and best friend, Billie Werner; her parents, Greer (Red) and Faye Weightman; mother-in-law, Lotella Voyles; niece, Cindy Reese; sister-in-law, Ann Cagle; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Springer, Jack Cagle, and Bob Cagle.

She is survived by her son, Greer Dean Cagle, who made up the entirety of her world; sister, Sandra Springer; sister-in-law, Joyce Cagle; brother-in-law, Othell Werner; nieces, Judy Sanders, Vicki McLain, Karen Arnn, and Debbie Oneil; nephews, Steve Werner, Rick Cagle, Rod Cagle, Jeff Cagle, Bobby Cagle, Dusty Cagle, Duane Springer, Brian Springer, and Eric Springer; and her caregiver whom she loved as her own, Naomi Thomas.

Celebration of life will be held on May 15, 2021, at Trinity Worship Center, 209 Second St S.E., Childress, Texas 79201.

  2. Thoughts and prayers are with you Greer. As a person who lost their mother i know how your feeling. I lost my mother 13 years ago this year and it seems like yesterday.
