Joseph A. “Joe” George, 92, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, February 19, 2020.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas, TX.  Military rites are by American Legion Post 224.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Joe was born April 25, 1927, in Ada, OK to Icey and Joseph George Sr.  He served in the US Navy during World War II.  He married Louise Carroll on October 20, 1951, in Amarillo, TX.

Joe worked for Xcel Heating Plant at Masterson for 25 years.   He volunteered at Meals-on-Wheels.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Paul George and Jeffrey Scott George.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Louise George, of Amarillo, TX; a daughter, Gayla Martin, of Amarillo, TX; three sons, Jim George and wife Lezlie, of Sachse, TX, Joseph George and wife Terri, of Dumas, TX, and Richard George and wife Krista, of Galva, KS; a brother, Don George and wife Irene, Hennessey, OK; a sister, Mary Harris and husband John, of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to High Plains Food Bank.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2020, at the funeral home.
