Ronald Eugene “Jake” Ashlock, loving husband, father and grandfather passed from this life at the age of 89 and entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2020 at 7:03 p.m.
Born June 5, 1931, in Madill, OK, Jake moved to Amarillo at the age of 15 and worked for Coca-Cola for 43 years. He was an active member of the Panhandle Foreign and Sports Car Club and the West Texas Region Porsche Club of America for many years. He was also a dedicated Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and had a passion for western history. A long time member of Comanche Trails Church of Christ, Jake will be remembered by his family, friends and loved ones for his infectious smile, his kind and compassionate spirit and his love for the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Lillie Lindsey Ashlock, as well as his ten siblings and their spouses: Haskel (Altalou) of Weatherford, TX; Earl (Altamay) of Hitchcock, TX; Lynn (Dorris) of Amarillo, TX; Coy (Birdie) of Tulsa, OK; Geneva (Thurman) Hall of Amarillo, TX; Kenneth (Lucille) of Oklahoma City, OK; Genice (Ted) Sanchez of Amarillo, TX; Betty (Bill) Sandlin of Hamilton, Ohio; Lois Ashlock, who died at the age of two; and a brother who was stillborn.
He is survived by his wife (of 52 years), Katherine “Kathy” of Amarillo; sons Tim (Kelley Jo) of Friona, TX, and Stephen (Suzanne) of Pflugerville, TX; four grandchildren, August and Alyson of Pflugerville, and Maddox and Kennedy of Friona; his brother-in-law Mike (Glynda) Matteo of Chandler, TX; honorary sister Verlene Williams of Amarillo, TX, and many other Family Members, countless Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Loved Ones.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2020 at Comanche Trails Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jake’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association West Texas Chapter or Comanche Trails Church of Christ.
