Ruth Chan King White, 89, of Amarillo, TX died Tuesday, July 29, 2021.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2021, at Willow Cemetery in Haskell, TX.  Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m., at First Christian Church in Haskell with her son, Sam White, officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Chan was born January 12, 1932, in Haskell, TX to H.C. and Una King.  She married Bertis White on July 30, 1950, in Haskell.  He preceded her in death on July 9, 2020.

Chan was a member of First Christian Church in Haskell and later Washington Avenue Christian Church in Amarillo.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Van Siclen.

Survivors include her children, Kryss White Downs and husband Dennis, of West Monroe, LA, Mickey White and wife Christy, of Shamrock, TX, Kara White Schorstein, of Aurora, CO, Beth White Ward and husband Wayne, of Sherman, TX, and Sam White and wife Martha, of Amarillo, TX; thirteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

  1. Chan and Bertis were such an encouragement to us while we were in Abilene transitioning from ministry in the Dominican Republic to Guayaquil, Ecuador. We last saw them in Amarillo while on furlough in 2017. I’m from Amarillo, and my mom was attending Washington Ave at the time of her death. So many warm memories of your parents … I even went with Chan to DCC to listen to Sam’s senior sermon. May the Lord comfort you all and give you hope.
