Doris Ingrid Hamilton, 73, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, January 5, 2020.
A memorial gathering will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Doris was born August 23, 1946, in Bad Kissingen, Bavaria, East Germany, to Robert and Antonia Werther. She married Charles Richard Hamilton in 1964 in Würzburg, Germany and moved to the United States and Lubbock in 1965. She worked at the Avalanche News Journal in Lubbock, the San Angelo Standard Times, and from 1979-2010 at the Amarillo Globe-News.
Doris was Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004.
Survivors include her mother, Antonia Werther, of Germany; two sons, Glenn Hamilton and wife Jayme, of The Woodlands, TX, and Chris Hamilton and wife Kim, of Combine, TX; three daughters, Marilyn Glidewell, Janice Apodaca, and Monica Blucher and husband Donnie, all of Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Ursula and Inga, both of Germany; and seven grandchildren, Lauren, Carston, Erika, Matthew, Alec, Chase, and Karlee.
