Michael Kent Petschelt, 61, of Amarillo, TX passed away on August 09, 2021.

 
Viewing will be available from Noon – 8:00 P.M., Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be at 4:00 P.M., Monday, August 16, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Kevin Deckard officiating. Military honors will be provided by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
 
Michael Kent Petschelt was born to Robert and Angela Petschelt.
 
Mike’s journey of life began in Tokyo, Japan on October 29, 1959.
 
Mike married Martha Morrison in Amarillo, Texas on November 8, 2004.
 

Along the way, he had multiple adventures. He graduated from John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas. After graduation, he served in the US Coast Guard from May 1, 1979, to May 22, 1987. He was active with the honor guard and color guard and received many awards. He served one-year of isolated duty in both Alaska and Marcus Island, Japan. He also worked on lighthouses. Following his Military discharge, he became a Peace Officer in Kirby, Texas. He continued his career as a truck driver for seven years. He graduated with the highest honors from Amarillo College with an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Instrumentation. He was employed as an Electronic Technician with Schlumberger in Perryton, Texas. His last career adventure was as a locksmith with Pop-A-Lock.

Mike had gusto and passion for life. He truly loved GOD, Family, and Country. Mike’s last journey called him home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2021.

He was preceded in death by parents, Angela Petschelt and Robert Petschelt; father-in-law, Jimmy King Morrison; and brother-in-law, Walter Burke Morrison
 
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Martha Petschelt; brother, Ed Petschelt; sister-in-law, Buba Petschelt; niece, Lorna Petschelt; brother, Randy Petschelt; nephews, James and Justin Petschelt; niece, Shermila Sundquist; nephew, Davy Sundquist; mother-in-law, Catherine Slack Morrison; brother-in-law, Luke McCabe Morrison; sisters-in-law, Lillie K Morrison and Bonnie B Morrison; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
 
The family request in lieu of flowers that donations are made to the Texas Panhandle War Memorial located at 4111 S Georgia Amarillo, TX 79110 in Mike’s honor.

  2. Dear Martha, I wish I had the right words to express how sorry I am for your loss, just know I care. May the love and mercy of our Lord be upon you and your family during these challenging times. May God richly bless the memory of Mike. There are times when all we have left is the hope that tomorrow will be a more gentle place to land than today. As the sun dawns, we hope it is filled with the promises of a brighter tomorrow. Mike, Thank you for serving our Country and risking your life to protect our freedom. You will greatly be rewarded for your bravery here on earth, but great is your reward in heaven.
