Alda Wanda Hart, aged 86 wonderful years, was called to heaven on March 1st, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Alda was born in Vernon, Texas on September 16th, 1935, to John and Emily Viola Hamilton. She was the youngest of ten children. Throughout her life, she worked and experienced life in a variety of cities. She worked in Navy Housing in San Diego, California, and in Sasebo, Japan. She also worked for the historic Levi Strauss company. While living in Japan, Alda loved traveling and visiting different countries. Alda Hamilton and J.P. Hart were married on February 23rd, 1957. They had met as children, both taking violin lessons, reconnected as adults, and fell in love.

Alda was a loving mother and devoted wife. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, J.P. Hart; her son, Gary Hart, daughter, Lela Faye Schmidt, and daughter, Lori Ann and her husband Anthony Gioia; her brother, Billy Thaxton and his wife Emma Wyvonne Hamilton; grandchildren, Amanda and her husband James Driscoll, Matthew and his wife Amy Schmidt, Kristina and her husband Bryan Inglis, and Derek and Madison Gioia; great-grandchildren Hallie Davis, Alexander and Skylar Lewis, Zachariah Driscoll, Tatum Inglis, and Annabel Schmidt; great-great-grandson Christian Lincycomb.

Alda was an expert at quilting and sewing, she loved crafting creations for her family members. Whenever she was crafting, she would often ask her loved ones what their favorite color was and use it to make them something special. She was always loving, generous, and would do anything for her family. Alda loved spending time with her family and cherished family gatherings.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at Family Life Church, 3900 SW 58th, with Kelvin Hamilton officiating in Amarillo, Texas.

  1. I just heard about the passing of Mr and Mrs Hart.

    Please accept my deepest sympathy.

    Mrs Hart was like our second ‘Mom’ when we were all little kids and all running around on Fannin Street.

    Their family and my family kinda grew up together in the 60’s and 70’s.

  2. Sure do miss u Alda. I have been doing ur hair since 2001, unreal! I remember JP bringing u to The Carousel at Western Plaza and how he got in and out of that MG- Midget I will never know. I have fond memories of u and JP, glad u guys r together as always. Love u both 💜
