Joie spent all of her childhood life in Wellington, TX, and graduated from Wellington High School in 1993. While at Wellington High School, she was especially noted for being the yearbook editor and drum major. Following high school graduation, she attended West Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in English in December of 1997. Joie went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education in Educational Technology in May of 2003.
Joie married Clay Blake in Amarillo on September 17, 2007.
Throughout her life, Joie had several interesting occupations. She was employed with the Amarillo Globe-News and skillfully wrote obituaries for many people in the Texas Panhandle area. She enjoyed this work very much and poured her heart into it. The final obituary that she was honored to write was that of her mother. Joie also worked for Amarillo ISD as an Instructional Technology Specialist. One of her greatest accomplishments during this time was that she was asked to speak at a convention out-of-state on technology in instructional education. Joie also worked in education at Caprock High School in Amarillo and Claude ISD as a High School English teacher. Later, she worked for Cinergy Entertainment. The occupation she found most important was that of being a mother. The time she spent with Cloie and Sarah is where Joie found her joy and smile. She loved being their mom. Joie was most known for her humor and quick wit. She did not demand to be the center of attention but usually found herself there simply because she was fun and loved to laugh. To those who knew her best, she was caring, compassionate, and someone we could lean on. She was great at organizing events and did so for her family for many years. Things Joie enjoyed were painting, music, concerts, spending time with family and friends, outdoor movies, scrapbooking, reading, and making people smile. Joie served on the Paramount Terrace Elementary PTC.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Evelyn Campbell; her grandparents, Cliff and Rachel Campbell, Bill Chester, and Vera Otto; and her brother-in-law, Nicholas Blake.
