Linzy “Leroy” Payne Jr., 64, of Amarillo, Texas unexpectedly went to be with The Lord and the family members who passed before him on Saturday Night in his sleep. While we know he is no longer in pain and having a blast up in Heaven probably fishing he will be greatly missed here on earth by so many people.

Leroy was born on September 29, 1956, in Yuma, Arizona. Leroy recently became a Great-Grandfather to a sweet little girl that was his pride and joy. He worked as an Auto Glass Shop Manager for many many years but then changed careers and has been employed at Groendyke Transport for many years as an OTR driver. Leroy loved to spend time with his little princess Everleigh and beautiful wife Becky Payne of 45 years and his family. He recently started enjoying looking up and cooking new recipes he found, but his true passion was fishing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeweldean Barker; mother-in-law, OmaBell Schmedel; two sisters, Sylvia Stephens, and Dorthy Payne; and two nephews, Jamie Graves and Bobby Lee Payne.

He is survived by his beautiful wife, Becky Payne (Amarillo) of 44 years; 2 sons, Clint Dalton and wife Christine, and Christopher Payne and wife Savannah; a daughter Chasity Payne; 8 grandchildren, Renee Scroggins and husband Brian, Audrey Gonzales, Tyler Evans, Tatyon Payne, Lathyn Payne, Justin Dalton, Josh Dalton, Leland Guy, and Hayden Billings Dalton; and two great-grandchildren, Everleigh Raye Jean Scroggins, and Omarion Dalton; three sisters, Margie Telford, Patty Crain, and Barbara Manzer; one sister-in-law, Deborah Peyton; and also many nieces and nephews and other family members.

Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 28, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Brandon Moore officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
