Margaret Jane Utterback, 72, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Burial was private.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Jane was born April 25, 1949, in Amarillo, TX to Jesse and Nita Smith.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Wayland Baptist College.  Jane married Bill Utterback on July 31, 1982, in Amarillo.

Jane was very artistically talented.  She loved crafts, quilting, and needlepoint and even taught this craftwork to others.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Utterback, of the home; a sister, Jennifer Pickard and husband Bobby, of Amarillo, TX; two nieces, Rebecca Scott and husband Jake, and Trisha Wellborn and husband Taylor; and five great-nieces and great-nephews, Maggie, Gus, Phoebe, Hattie, and Ford.

  1. I really enjoyed working with Jane all those years. She was a character. I have a set of her dishes I bought from her at a garage sale . She said Bill told her “Now Jane you just HAD to have those dishes “ 😊 . She had a Christmas tree with a different theme in every room in her house during the holidays. So sorry for your loss Bill. She was a great lady. Josie

  4. Heaven has gained one heck of a lady. She was a very special friend to me for years at SBC/ATT. “Bless your Heart” was her phrase, I always think of her when I hear that phrase.
    I’ll always cherish the memories I made with her.
    May God cover her family with Love & Comfort to get thru these difficult times, and be with each of them in the days ahead.

  6. Sweet Jane. She is in Heaven getting a group together for a craft lesson or just plain talking and laughing. I loved my time with Jane at SWB as a tub buddy. She could always make me smile and she always truly cared. I know every “Bless your heart” was sincere and heartfelt. Gof bless her sweet family.

  10. Jane was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Anyone who knew Jane undoubtedly heard her contagious laugh and has been the recipient of her, “Bless your heart!” The world will be a sadder place without her presence. Her chores were completed, she entered the gates of Heaven, and heard, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Praise the Lord!
    Bill, you and the family are in my fervent prayers. May our gracious, merciful Lord wrap you in His loving arms of comfort and grant you peace beyond understanding.
