Nova Jean Donelson Adams

 

The heavenly choir received a new member when Nova Jean Donelson Adams left this world to sing with them. Sunday morning, February 27, 2022.

Nova was born in Paris, Tennessee July 12, 1937, to Ewing “KY” Donelson and Mary Walker Donelson. Her family moved to Oklahoma when she was an infant, she grew up in Arapaho, Oklahoma, where she excelled musically and scholastically. Nova was married to George Adams, and they were blessed with three children. They traveled to many countries while living in London, England, and Munich, Germany, before settling in Amarillo, Texas. Nova was active in the community where she was a board member of the Women’s Division of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, board member of Wesley Community Center, Women Society of Christian Service of the United Methodist Church, various PTA roles including President, and President of the Sears Pioneer Club for many years after retirement from Sean Roebuck and Co.

Nova was preceded in death by her son, Kurk Adams; daughter, Julie Sanders Adams; son, Scott Dudley; sisters, Lauren Riley and Kay Donelson; and brothers, Bud Donelson, Raymond Donelson, and Audy Donelson.

Nova is survived by her son, Scott Adams; daughter, Nancy Adams Dudley; granddaughters, Melanie DePauw, Brooke Walker, and Amanda Cassady; grandsons, Keith Cassady and Mason Dudley; great-grandsons, Seth Simmons, Cole Wilkes, and Blaine Staggs; great-great-granddaughters, Zoe Simmons, and Ivy Simmons; great-great-grandson, Maddox Simmons; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, lifelong loving friends, and so many who benefitted from her guidance. Nova would like them all to know: my family and friends have meant everything to me. No matter the circumstances, only remember the fun and laughter. Remember I am not far away; even though I am leaving you now, I am never leaving you in spirit. You’ll know I am beside you smiling and watching out for you and I’ll be there to meet you in Heaven and what a time we’ll have! I leave you with my undying love, “Mom” “Grannie” “Nova”.

  2. My Aunt Novie was always quick with a smile, laugh, and the best hugs. I will miss her always. Say high to Dad for me!

    1. She definitely loved all of her nephews & nieces! She had a huge love for her family! I can only imagine that reunion up there! I’m so excited for her! I will definitely miss her!

  3. Aunt Novie always had the biggest smile, the most infectious laugh. I will miss her, but she lives forever in my memories of good times. Such a wonderful soul.

    1. Yes she did! Her beauty inside & out, and without a doubt one of the best cooks I have ever known! She is definitely going to be missed!
