Richard Wayne Hill “Rickey”

Richard Wayne Hill (Rickey) was born in Amarillo, Texas on March 29, 1946, and was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. He died on January 26, 2022, after battling Alzheimer’s disease.
Rickey graduated from Amarillo High School and West Texas A & M University. He began a successful career as a stockbroker with Kidder Peabody, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and in later years retired from LPL Financial.
Rickey loved to hunt and trout fish in New Mexico and the Colorado mountains and even enjoyed an occasional round of golf. He was also an expert at trap shooting. He proudly displayed his many awards and welcomed the opportunity to show them off and share a fun story. Rickey was a member of the Amarillo Gun Club and spent many weekends shooting with friends. e loved all things John Wayne and never missed a late-night western.
He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Ann Brown (Wes) of Amarillo and Catherine Lawler (Donn) of Austin, four grandchildren, Emily Brown Miller of Amarillo, Elaine Brown of Flower Mound, Lilly and Luke Lawler of Austin, great-granddaughters, Elly and Anna Miller, niece Haley Hill Sutter, sister-in-law Connie Hill and several out of town cousins. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle man and a loving father to his daughters. Rickey was preceded in death by his beloved mother Wanda Jo (Jody) Matthews and his brother Ronnie. He was most certainly greeted by them both as he entered Heaven.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12th at 2:00 pm at Boxwell Brothers Chapel, 2800 Paramount, Amarillo, Texas.
The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation to The Legacy at Town Square, Ruby Slippers Care,

and High Plains Senior Care Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations made in honor of Richard W. Hill to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 52405, Amarillo TX 79159.

    I know your Grand Mother Nancy (Nan), Mother Jo and Ronnie have you wrapped in their heavenly wings. So many good memories of our family reunions in Amarillo and Borger, Texas..
